The physical features and topography of Uzbekistan are one of the most diverse in Central Asia. Though the desert-type of terrains cover about three-fourth of the country, there are also rivers, lakes, plateaus, valleys and lofty mountain ranges which are unusual for a land type often described as desert. The doubly landlocked country’s mountainous terrains cover about 80% of its territory, with some of its mountain peaks rising to altitudes of about 15,000 feet above the sea level.

For tourists interested in the history, beauty, and legends of Central Asia, especially Uzbekistan, there are some amazing cities and places such as Bukhara, Fergana city, the Ferghana Valley, Khiva city (on the old Russian slave trade route), Kokand, Margilan, Namangan city, Nukus, Nurata, Sarmysh Say river gorge, Navoi, Termez (on the bank of Amudarya river), Samarkand (one of the oldest cities of the world) and Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
