The Island of Love is on Lake Toraygir (or Toraigyr), one of the three freshwater lakes in the Bayanaul National Park located in Pavlodar Oblast in Kazakhstan, Central Asia. The island, the lake in which it is situated, and the national park are very popular tourist destinations.
Lake Toraygir is named after Sultanmahmut Toraygirov (1893-1920), the celebrated Kazakh writer and poet who spent his childhood days and worked as a teacher in Bayanaul, before moving to Tomsk in Russia in 1916.
In a different context, Island Of Love is also the title of a song from the Elvis Presley album ‘Blue Hawaii’ released on RCA Victor Records in mono and stereo in October 1961.
